Country Manor Hosts Exhibition
The gorgeous Chilston Park Hotel in Maidstone served as the luxurious backdrop to over 500 pieces of artwork submitted for the Creative Art Examination Board (CAEB) exams. The CAEB is the latest brainchild of Warnborough College (UK) to promulgate the arts as an important part of STEAM education, and to encourage creativity in the next generations.
Despite only having reccently been launched in April 2024, the CAEB was an immediate success. We attracted over 1000 entries for assessment by early June. Entries came from a multitude of countries in Asia including Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Thailand and South Korea.
The CAEB currently has 5 categories under which works can be submitted. These are Creative Art, Graphic Design, Comics and Manga, Fine Art and Craft Modelling. The highest-ranked works (Distinction and Merit) were brought over to the UK for a formal exhibition.
At the presentation ceremony, Dr Brenden Tempest-Mogg, president of Warnborough College, congratulated those who had made it over and enthused about the creativity on display. He hoped that this would inspire more and more children to see art not just as a hobby but as a viable career pathway, or as an important skill that complements others.
Mr Teck Yeong Ng, our Council Member and manager of our Asian learning centres, was confident that the CAEB’s success would be fueled by this inaugural exhibition. Mr Jeffers Lim of My Art Studio and Mr Jeff Lim of Jeffmark Art Academy (2 of Warnborough’s learning centres) agreed that this was a fantastic opportunity to promote the development of the arts not just in Asia but around the world.
Later that evening, selected works were exhibited at the Sunlight Development Trust alongside the Kent Art Conference’s Schools Art Competition entrants. Those in attendance received their certificates from the Mayor of Medway, His Worship Cllr Marian Nestorov.
We would like to congratulate all entrants on their success and invite all eligible children to participate in the next year’s examination schedule once again.
